I am a product of 15 years of catholic education. Based on my experience priests, nuns, and monks are generally nice people. So I say the following as a concerned person who grew up under these people's guidance:
What is wrong with you, CEAP???
Here's a news clip from last night's 24 Oras. Watch out for the 1.21 mark...
You heard him folks! They'd rather keep their school's image intact than give a teenage mother a good education, which she would be needing more than ever now that she has a kid to raise. The CATHOLIC EDUCATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, ladies and gentlemen! Jesus would be sooooo proud.
Food nearly shot out of my nose as I heard Monsignor whoever say "ang batas na ito (The Magna Carta For Women) ay magiging salungat sa pinaka identity ng catholic schools na siyang magturo ng tamang buhay...ng tamang moralidad."
Imagine taking your still-functioning car to a mechanic for a tune-up. When you come back after a couple of days, he tells you: "Sira na 'to sir. Kailangan na naming tanggalin dito. Magiging salungat na kasi ito sa pinaka identity ng talyer namin na siyang magbigay ng tamang maintenance sa mga sasakyan." Wouldn't you punch the dude right in the face? Seriously.
We always complain about lawmakers wasting taxpayer money. Well here's a law that makes perfect sense and not to mention is long overdue. So spare us the warped "identity of catholic schools" logic, please. This is a job well done by Sen. Pia Cayetano. Can't a sistah get some love?
